  INDIVIDUAL NOTES: Obituary published in The Skyland Post, Ashe County, North Carolina, dated August 7, 1980: Vaught Roten Buried August 3 Funeral service for Vaughn Roten, 55, Boone, formerly of Ashe County, who passed away Thursday, July 31, in Boone was conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 3, at the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating were Rev. Ed Crump, Rev. Vance Edwards and Rev. Ernie Richards with burial in the Watauga County, North Carolina - Mt. Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens. Mr. Roten was born July 5, 1925 to the late John Gray Roten and Della Ham Roten. He moved to Boone in 1958. He was in the furniture business until 1978 and presently owned Roten Trucking County. He was a member of the Brushy Fork Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Brotherhood Director and Sunday School teacher. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pauline Graybeal Roten of the home; two sons, John and Jack Roten, both of Boone; mother, Mrs. Della Ham Roten, Creston; one sister, Dorothy Little, Boone; one brother, Delmer Roten, West Jefferson; 4 grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Dr. J.B. Hagaman Coronary Care Unit, Watauga Hospital. The family received friends at the Hampton Funeral Home in Boone on Saturday, August 2, from 7-9 p.m.
