Oscar Abraham Adams, 90, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2007.
Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Allen Adams and Lydia Fox Adams. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Mae Rogers Adams, who died Sept. 17, 1991; four sisters, Maude Williams, Sarah Corbin, Ada Cogdill and Grady Taylor; and two brothers, Bill and Ed.
Oscar was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII; a logger and Christmas tree farmer. He enjoyed rock hounding, wildlife and the outdoors, was an avid reader and sports fan, and he loved children. He was a member of Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his second wife, Betty Clay Adams; three children, Shirley Young and husband Doyle of Five Points, Ala., Roger Adams and wife Nancy of Lenoir, and Sandy Woods and husband Gerald of Franklin; a sister, Alice Gaines of Franklin; a brother, Alec Adams of Long Creek, Ore.; six grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Sunday, June 24, at 3 p.m., at Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Potts officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold Ammons, Wesley Peek, Al Adams, James Talley, Troy Rogers, Jason Clay, Wardie Young and Dale Young.
The family received friends Sunday, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., at the church.
