Wendell Ray Angel
Wendell Ray Angel, 80, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011.
Born in Macon Co., she was the daughter of the late Wendell Oliver Ray and Alice Sutton Ray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Lex B. “JR” Angel; two brothers, R.C Ray and Otis Ray and two sisters, Monta Hurst and Isabelle Vanhook. Wendell worked at Cullasaja Elementary School for 30 years as lunch room manager. She was a member of Mashburn Branch Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Ridley of Sylva; two sons, Jack Angel of Asheville and Steve Angel of Franklin; two sisters, Evelyn Brendle and Eunice Doster; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 25 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Alton Dendy and Rev. Ernie Sanders officiated. Burial was in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers were Jason Angel, Kevin McMahan, Kevin Raby, Jamey Ashe, Tommy Ashe, Nathan Raby and Travis Angel.
